About
At the Garryvoe we believe some things should never change. That is why you will always find a fresh prawn cocktail on the menu, an open fire in the Cave Bar and sincere hospitality without the fuss. It is why since we opened in 1962, people return year after year. It is why as we get bigger, we concentrate even harder on the little things - like bedrooms that are way bigger than standard, heated bathroom mirrors, exceptional service and a menu that has never seen an air mile.
We have just been awarded four star accreditation and we are proud to be Irish, family-owned and independent. Above all we do this because we love entertaining. At the Garryvoe, it is all about that. It is about being friendly, enjoying the sea, the beach, beautiful Ballycotton Bay. You are here, on your time, you do whatever you want and we will look after the rest.
Garryvoe - An old favourite reborn.
Location
Garryvoe Hotel, Ballycotton Bay, Castlemartyr, Co. Cork Directions >At Castlemartyr on the N25 (main Cork to Waterford Road), turn onto the R632, drive through the village of Ladysbridge and Garryvoe Hotel is approx 2 miles.
Rooms
When you have a view like the Garryvoe Hotel has, you make the most of it - all 360 degrees. So when you book with us you have a choice - the ocean or the unspoiled countryside? Or in some rooms both!
And because we have all this glorious space and glorious views, we have made all our bedrooms bigger than standard. Our standard room is now almost 400 sq. ft. and we got totally carried away with the new Oceanview Bridal Suite with Terrace - it is 1,200 sq feet of indulgent, romantic luxury.
Three years ago we had 17 rooms, we currently have 65 rooms and suites and in 2010 we will have 90. Our accommodation options include a Bridal Suite, Junior Suites (which have individual terrace or balcony) and our new and upgraded Standard and Family Rooms. (non-smoking and smoking rooms available)
Take a look, you can hear the ocean already.
Standard Rooms
There's a wide variety of rooms to choose from, with sea views and countryside views but they have all got one thing in common, the most up-to-date four-star facilities you can have and your comfort as our number one priority.
That's why people come back again and again to the Garryvoe - and invariably ask to be booked into their favourite room. Choose yours and we'll make it your own.
Other
Dining at Garryvoe
When you have the best and freshest ingredients in the world you do not mess with them. And at the Garryvoe Hotel we are really lucky, they are all on our doorstep. We get our seafood from the pier at Ballycotton and if you are up early enough you will see the boats landing it every morning.
Whether you choose to eat in our hotel restaurant, the Lighthouse Bar and Grill or snack in the comfort of the Cave Bar, our head chef Kevin O'Sullivan and his team will deliver three simple things: Flavour, Freshness & Simplicity.
Restaurant
Chef Kevin O'Sullivan is from Skibbereen in West Cork, but we'll forgive him that since the seafood and local ingredients down there aren't half bad either - and we've even allowed him sneak a few scallops from Castletownbere on to the menu and some Clonakilty Black Pudding.
Kevin and his team like the food to do the talking, local seafood, local steaks and meat, local fruit and veg, served simply, in season, in a restaurant that's high on quality and low on fuss and formality - you're here to enjoy yourself and it's our job to ensure you do.
The Lighthouse
Seafood, Steaks and More
The Lighthouse is the kind of place where you can while away the afternoon quite happily, have a snack or tuck into that old favourite; delicious fresh Ballycotton Battered Plaice with Tartare Sauce and Chips. It's bright, modern and airy and buzzing at lunchtime.
And we have a full children's menu for the under 12s with local battered chicken bites, along with lasagne, pasta, fish and chips, all made fresh in our kitchen.
The Cave
Or you can slip next door to a hidden wonder - The Cave. The local bar untouched by modern 'improvements' with open fire, slate floors and a huge table that's seen better days but the regulars won't let us get rid of it.
Private Dining
At the Garryvoe we know a good meal is the key to any gathering - that's why we have a host of private dining options to suit parties from 8 to 50.
The Health Club
We are delighted to announce at the Garryvoe Hotel the opening of the most luxurious and health focused Health Club in East Cork. Everything we do at the Garryvoe is guided by a simple mission to offer quality, luxury and professionalism at an affordable price.
The new Garryvoe Hotel Health Club facilities will include:
- East Cork's only dedicated two-lane 25m Lap Pool, Splash Pool and Water Jet Massage Area
- Unique to Cork and Ireland our Aqua Jogging Ring
- 1200 square feet Gym with 40 pieces of the latest Technogym equipment
- Top Quality Sauna, Invigorating Outdoor Hot Tub & Steam Room.
- A spacious Aerobics Studio offering complimentary classes
- Luxurious, spacious changing rooms and showers with individual, lockable storage lockers
- Professional, expert staff
The Garryvoe Hotel Health Club is also open to the general public and membership numbers will be strictly limited in order to maintain ease of access for all members and guests.
Weddings
The combination of our beautiful beach and Ballycotton Bay make the perfect romantic setting and at the Garryvoe Hotel we have been hosting weddings since the first day we opened. And there is a reason for that; we do not have wedding coordinators. Hosting your wedding is such a major part of what we do that you will work directly with Stephen, the General Manager; Anthony, the Deputy General Manager and the rest of our management team.
Our weddings are all about you; you will not notice us, but we will be watching every detail.
Conference and Events
When you set up an Out of Office conference or training day that's exactly where you want it
to be. You want your delegates or team to be in an environment that makes it relaxing and
creative - a place where ideas spark, office politics is forgotten and people become
re-energised and invigorated.
We find a five-mile beach, fresh sea air and that chilled feeling at the Garryvoe tends to do the trick. The fact that we are less than 45 minutes from Cork Airport and half an hour from the city means you are in another world but the real one is reassuringly near - we reckon it pays to forget about it now and again.
We can cater for conferences, meetings and team days of all sizes up to 250 participants.
And we are also up-to-date with wi-fi and internet connections, in case you really have to keep in touch with the office!
ACTIVITIES
Where do we start? East Cork is so crammed with things to do, so here are just a few tasters.
- Golf Clubs: Cork, Youghal, Fota Island, East Cork and Water Rock
- Midleton Farmers Market
- The Jameson Experience (Old Midleton Distillery)
- The Queenstown Story and Titanic Trail
- Barryscourt Castle
- Fota Wildlife Park, Fota House and Gardens
A little nearer to home is Ballycotton village, five minutes drive and maybe have lunch at our sister hotel the Bayview before heading off on the spectacular Ballycotton Cliff walk.
There's also fishing, water sports, quad biking, the famous Ballymaloe Cookery School and horse-riding all within a few minutes of the hotel.
Our reception will be happy to assist you in making arrangements.
